Operating principle of EPS® electromagnetic parking sensors

Parking sensors in reverse

The EPS® parking sensor, an exclusive from PROXEL, is based on an innovative concept utilizing low-energy electromagnetic waves.

The magnetic band, called the antenna sensor, generates an elliptical electric field that completely covers the area around the bumper.

When an object with a certain mass (such as people, walls, vehicles, high curbs, trees, bollards, etc.) enters this elliptical zone, a disturbance occurs in the electric field. This disturbance is analyzed by the electronic control unit, which emits a series of audible signals as the bumper approaches the obstacle.

Notes

1. EPS® parking sensors detect the approach of an obstacle along the entire length of the bumper, without interruption points, up to the minimum distance before contact.

2. Signaling occurs only when the vehicle approaches the obstacle. Fixed objects in front of the bumper, like a tow hook or the license plate itself, are not detected, ensuring the normal operation of the device.

3. The EPS® parking sensor is the only one compatible with vehicles equipped with a mounted tow hook.
